Eruption du volcan Koriakski au Kamtchatka:
un glacier menacé (expert)

Un glacier situé sur le Koriakski (Kamtchatka) s'est fissuré et a commencé à glisser en raison de l'éruption du volcan, a déclaré à RIA Novosti Alexeï Ozerov, chercheur à l'Institut de volcanologie et de sismologie (Académie russe des sciences).

"Outre les fumerolles qui s'étaient formées en mai 2008, deux nouveaux orifices sont apparus, et une plateforme thermique a été découverte", a fait savoir le spécialiste.

Selon lui, l'éruption se poursuit. De nombreux séismes ont été enregistrés dans les stations d'observation et des colonnes de fumée surplombent le cratère du volcan.

Haut de 3.456 m, le Koriakski est inscrit au Patrimoine mondial culturel et naturel de l'Unesco. Sa dernière éruption date de 1956.
